Prof. Roy Ramphal is an Emeritus Professor as well as Professor Extraordinary at the University of South Africa (Unisa). He has had many years of quality assurance experience both in industry and in higher education environments. Specific roles were Quality Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager as well as Quality Director Planning and Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutes. He has also supervised postgraduate students in the field of Quality, Project Management, Quality in Medical Laboratories and Quality of Service to Patients. He is a prolific author of articles in journals, commentary articles in magazines and newspapers and author of books related to operations management, quality management and supply chain management. Roy conducts research and consults in standardisation, quality, operations management, standards and shared services and publishes in accredited journals as well as is a seasoned speaker at many conferences both locally and internationally including the American society for quality, Canada Society for Quality, Quality Society of India and the European Organisation for Quality He is currently the . President of the Southern African Society for Quality, Director on the Board of the African Association of MBA graduates, Academic Ambassador for the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), and Strategist and Director for Leading Performance Excellence. He is qualified with a National Higher diploma in Chemical Engineering, a UNISA Diploma in Datametrics, a BCOM in general management, a MBA and has completed a Doctoral Study in organisational leadership.
